From High School Varsity soccer, eight years in the Army, to competitive horse shows and Yoga: I've been involved in a variety of rigorous exercise programs. After having two kids back-to-back, gaining A LOT of weight, and becoming stiff with age, I started looking into an exercise program a few years ago. Then I lost my mother to ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), and I knew I needed something soothing and relaxing. Not only did I find that relaxation in Yoga, but I also found a new me, and the old happy self I had lost along with my mother. My wish is that you will come and practice Yoga with me and maybe find the happy child within. Namaste.

A native of Detroit Michigan Lori had a surprise pregnancy at 48 and gave birth to a perfect baby boy. But being a stay at home Mom was a challenge after 31 years of working. Lori began her Yoga practice at 55 years old with Veronica. She started class and never looked back. After five years of practice, Lori decided to become an instructor and became certified. Then some foot surgery set things back and getting back to health she tried a chair yoga class and knew it was what she wanted to do. She then returned to her studies and became certified in chair yoga. Most of her practices work with baby boomers and beyond believing that as we head into older age yoga can be the perfect all-around exercise program for all.

She realized she wanted to deepen her yoga practice by becoming a yoga teacher and learning more about yoga philosophy. Yoga is now a part of every aspect of Kristi’s life. She loves the way connecting breath with intention, postures and meditation can help everybody find their spiritual truth. Kristi is a voracious reader and believes books can change the world. She has a B.A. in Liberal Arts, and a master’s degree in Library Science, as well as Legislative Affairs. Kristi is a certified 200 RYT, a Laughter Yoga instructor and has also completed training in meditation for children.

Leticia had a 30 year career in finance and for the first 10 years dropped in & out of yoga, cycling, weight lifting, swimming, running, boxing and pilates. She eventually realized the mind/body connection with yoga was positively affecting her life and was a great compliment to her other exercises. As her career was coming to a close and she was looking for something positive to help her stay active and healthy in middle age, she decided to take a yoga teacher training class. She didn’t think she would teach but with a push from one of her YTT teachers, Veronica Armstrong, she jumped into subbing yoga classes.
She now teaches at the Cedar Park Recreation Center the 1st Saturday of each month and loves the connections she makes with other yogis.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?
For me it was when I decided to do a sprint triathlon. I fell in love with triathlons and the training required to Swim / Bike / Run. The running part led me to do 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons and full marathons. The tri’s and running were my happy places and I thrived being active and outdoors. I also loved time on my road bike and doing Pilates.
After that, I enrolled in a Yoga Teacher Training class. This was beginning of my life-long passion for Yoga and a way to serve others. It is my pleasure and honor to be part of the Yoga community.

Yoga is a personal journey, not a destination. I started my career path as a 1st-grade teacher and then stepped away from a full-time classroom and began working as a substitute teacher. After working in two school districts and multiple campuses in different roles, I felt like Goldilocks trying to find the perfect fit! I thoroughly enjoyed teaching my students how to read, write, and get along through my years in elementary education, but the stress of everything else involved led me to my 1st yoga class. I walked into the studio stressed out and not knowing what to expect, but I left feeling calm and relaxed. I was totally hooked and continued attending classes for the next 10 years!
After relocating to Austin, and switching careers to being a professional organizer, I was grateful to have the opportunity to attend yoga teacher training at Flow Yoga.
When I am not working, you can find me on a hike with my husband, spending time with my two boys, or catching up with friends at a local coffee shop.
I am looking forward to all that is to come on my yoga journey, hope to meet you on your mat soon!

During class, we are trying to find some relaxation. If you find yourself holding your breath or straining at any point, come down to a restorative pose called child's pose and regain that relaxation. Remember, this is your practice, you can make it as challenging or restorative as you wish. Let's try not to hold any expectations for yourself. Every day is different for your body, listen to your body and honor it, allowing breaks when needed. There is no competition or judgment in Yoga. As long as your breath is flowing in and out, you are doing Yoga.

The lotus flower (left) is one of the most ancient and deepest symbols of our planet and is highly represented in Yoga. The lotus flower grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty. At night the flower closes and sinks underwater, at dawn it rises and opens again. Untouched by the impurity, the lotus symbolizes the purity of heart and mind. The lotus flower represents long life, health, honor, and good luck. Lotus position is easy seat (crossed legs) with hands resting comfortably on your knees.
